A Roller Coaster-like Journey Made Her Being Resilient
Working for several positions during her 6 years journey at Quipper brought ups and downs in Fitri’s journey. Her eagerness and persistence bring her to be one of the Quipper Champions 2022.
You have been working at Quipper for more than 6 years. What made you stay here?
I stay at Quipper because I have a conducive work environment, a team that always tries to be better, and co-workers who are supportive even though they are competitive. Moreover, for me, Quipper is a playground, there is a lot of knowledge and skill I gained during my journey in Telesales, CR, and Masterclass.
Your educational background is related to the Quipper business. What made you interested in working for an education technology company?
I could help many students to achieve their goals and their future. In my opinion, one of the steps to achieving a brilliant future is to be able to get the best quality of education. In addition to helping students to get the best quality of education, we could help them to solve the challenges and learning obstacles they face. I believe that Quipper content, features, and services could help them to learn easier. I hope that my educational background can contribute to Quipper so it could be more advanced and much better.
You have been in several roles at Quipper, could you please tell us any ups and downs in your career journey at Quipper until you could achieve this role?
My journey here has been very up and down. In 2016, I was accepted as a Telesales Officer. I feel like a competitive spirit in me has been created since I became a Telesales. As a sales team, we are asked to always achieve our KPI. But, one day, I was transferred to a team where the quality of the leads was not good. Sadly, my performance was dropped so I had to be coached by my SPV because I didn’t achieve the target for a long time. My contract almost didn’t even get extended because of that. Alhamdulillah, I survived at Quipper and was transferred to the Customer Relations team. Once again, I was asked to sell Masterclass products, but this time I tried my best so I could be the best performer every week. Because of that, I was asked to be a Tutor/Coach Supervisor.
My journey in Masterclass started from here. I initially was asked to become an SPV tutor, but for some reason, I was moved to help the Online Coaching team. Starting from here, I began to learn how to plan OC services, maintain team performance, manage more people, give direction to coaches, learn how to solve issues that we were facing, and many more. Due to preparations for marriage and pregnancy, my performance was a bit down at that time, but I tried to correct myself where I am lacking and what I should improve to be better. Alhamdulillah, I can be on track and achieve exceeding the manager’s expectations in the next quarter.
Now, as a leader, I always push myself to keep learning and growing along the way, shaping myself into the kind of leader I want to be. Being a leader is not just managing people but also listening to people, listening to their feedback and opinion, and using that information to make a decision. As a leader, I might tend to be in a “people pleaser” mode but there are also times when I have to make a hard decision that doesn’t please everybody.
What are the differences between when you were an officer and now a leader? What did you learn from your current role?
As a leader, I should be able to manage everyone on the team and listen to their suggestions and feedback to make decisions or solutions. I also should have a bigger picture or a helicopter view of what Masterclass should look like in the future. I must see something more comprehensive and strategic, think wisely, and have strong communication with all stakeholders. Other than that, I have to help my team members to increase their personal growth too.
How has Quipper contributed to your development both professionally and personally?
Quipper has greatly contributed to my personal and professional development. I have learned a lot of knowledge here. As I mentioned before, Quipper is like a playground for me. I learned about sales, people management, leadership, communication, strategic thinking, analytical thinking skills, and many more here. I also learned business operation skills and got business development knowledge from my role now.
What motivates you in performing well so now you get the honor as a Quipper Champion?
Work sincerely, work hard, and always do my best in terms of planning, initiative, or achieving targets. If something goes wrong, I fix it right away. If it’s good, I try to maintain and improve it so it could be much better.
