Here is an inspirational story about Fajrie Nuary, a Strategic Planner who has been working for 5 years in Quipper. Before joining the company, he taught elementary students in Papua for 1 year. Fajrie told us that he is always passionate about working in the education field.

Tell us about how you feel about being chosen as a Quipper Champion?

It was really surprising for me. As I understand, the reason was because of the successful Online Tryout. First of all, I want to say thank you to all people who make the online tryout a huge success, especially Direct Sales, Content, Product, Marketing and Customer Relations team. I want to emphasize that I’m not doing it alone and so many people from various divisions helped me to make this event work well and succeed. I feel grateful and thank you very much for selecting me for this award.

Could you please tell us about the important things that you have discovered for 5 years?

Growth! It’s been 5 years since I joined Quipper. I faced many challenges during these years, from one division to another. Sometimes it felt really hard, but at the same time, I realized that I’m in a growth zone now. I am completely aware that when we feel the hardship and uncomfortable in our work, it means that we’re growing and otherwise. There’s no comfort in the growth zone and there’s no growth in a comfort zone. That’s something well planted in my mind. Quipper is definitely a growth zone and indeed one of the best environments to develop our potentials.

We believe you have a memorable time during working in Quipper, please tell us!

I had a meeting with Mayors, Head of Dinas, Teachers, and students at the same period. That was memorable for me since I need to adjust the way I communicate with those different types of stakeholders. Quipper helps me to improve numerous skills, one of them is communication skills. I know that different stakeholders have different communication styles and different needs. Getting used to interacting with those people helped me to adjust my communication style so I can effectively deliver my messages.

Tell us what you love the most about your task/job!

Travel! This is what I love the most about my job because the task allowed me to travel from one branch to another in order to gather feedback from our users. My job required me to assess the sales material, presentation, the flow to follow up students and see the impact of it. I need to visit other Branches so I can get a general overview of the market since the character of each Branch is different. For instance, the situation in Jakarta is not the same as the situation in Palembang, the students’ behavior is completely different. Sometimes I visit them to strengthen our relationship with the local government. So yeah, that’s what I like because the job does not allow me to just sit on my seat behind my desk, but also able to go anywhere to gather lots of insight and feedback. One of our identities is User First, right? So to make sure that we implement our identity is to make sure that our service is based on our user’s needs.

How do you describe yourself?

I love to learn new things, I am not scared to try something completely new. I was really a shy person back then, but for the past 5 years I think I have more courage to explore myself, I even challenged myself to join performing art activities like dance and drama musical.

The first time I broke my boundaries was when I joined Quipper, since the office was in the Philippines, that was the first time I went overseas. Since I love to challenge myself, I remember when Yuta asked me to be a strategic planner for school sales. Even though I know that I am not really a data person, I saw it as a challenge to grow and took that responsibility. There’s a word from him that I always remember, don’t be afraid to make mistakes. Do mistakes and learn from them.

Could you please tell us what is the next bucket list that you want to achieve next?

It’s hard to answer, but most importantly I really wanna make sure that what I did here is impactful both for students and for the staff. It would be a great achievement for me when I see the number of students accepted in Public Universities increase, and the staff especially Direct Sales team are able to get proper self development training. I hope one day I can create a training program for the staff in all branches. They already have a strong mindset and what they need is to upgrade their skills.

If you could give advice to others, what would that be?

That one, about Growth. For everyone, If you feel so tired, don’t give up. That means that you are learning. Quipper is a better place for learning, no matter if you are a fresh graduate or as a leader. People in Quipper are very nice and helpful. I didn’t see any excessive issues, and I’m good with that as long as it doesn’t make any disintegration.

Don’t be afraid to ask something, take advantage of your time here to learn more and more. Quipper is a very good place, for you to do research to do your task, and it is really supported by the company. So, take the chance and do not waste the opportunity.
